In an almost perfect performance Australia's Ryan Tyack has won an individual gold medal at the World Indoor Championships held at Nimes (France). Ryan, a World Cadet Champion (Mexico 2006) did not lose a single set throughout all his elimination matches until the gold medal match. In the gold medal match he only lost one set (by 1 point) and went on to defeat Viktor Ruban of the Ukraine 6:4 and take out the championship.
Australia’s other hopeful Taylor Worth was taken out firstly by Ryan 6:0 when they met in the semi finals and then by Brady Ellison from the USA 6:2 in the bronze medal match.
Lynette Rankin (Ryan’s coach) has had enormous coaching success in Australia over recent years and has now notched up a significant win on the world scene establishing herself as the quiet achiever of Australian coaching. Lynette was one of the first coaches in the world to be awarded an International KSL Level 2 Coaching Certificate at Sydney Olympic Park last year by Kisik Lee and she is now being sourced internationally for her coaching ability.
